This is Rockaway Beach on Long Island, NY. From the heart of Williamsburg (Brooklyn), it takes about an hour and a half to get there (including two subway transfers). Money spent on subway fares round trip: $4. Overall cost: Priceless.



Did you think I'd spend 3 hours and 4 whole dollars to get to a beach and not surf? Not so. I took my newly aquired 7'6 board and 3-2 wet suit and had a nice session. There is always a good excuse to surf...now that I'm not a drunk.
